Will Aitchison graduated from the University of Oregon (Honors College) in 1973, and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC in 1976. After two years of clerking for the chief justice of the Oregon Court of Appeals, Mr. Aitchison entered private practice in Portland, Oregon, and has been representing public safety labor organizations since that time. He has also served as both an arbitrator and a pro-tem district court judge, has contributed numerous articles to various periodicals, and has trained thousands of public safety personnel, administrators, and attorneys.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Aitchison has represented over 100 law enforcement and firefighter labor organizations in five western states. He has also handled numerous FLSA lawsuits on behalf of police officers around the country, recovering millions of dollars in damages.

Mr. Aitchison is the author of The Rights of Law Enforcement Officers (Fourth Edition), The Rights of Firefighters (Third Edition), Model Law Enforcement Contract: A Labor Perspective (Third Edition), A Model Firefighters Contract: A Labor Perspective, FLSA: A User's Manual, Interest Arbitration (Second Edition), and Understanding the FMLA. He has lectured on numerous occasions to management and labor groups throughout the country on topics concerning public sector collective bargaining and public safety personnel issues, and has served as an expert witness and consultant on matters pertaining to the rights of public safety personnel.
